SIlverleaf Farm is proud to work with many Junior Rider and Young RIders.  Here are some of their photos and some of their many accomplishments...

Danielle Rowland started her dressage training with Kathy at age 14 years old and by age of 20 had already earned her USDF Bronze & Silver Medals and had trained 3 different arabians herself..  She is a focused and gentle rider who demonstrates great consistency in her work with the horses.   In 2003, she competed Helen Slaters 1/2 arab gelding "Americon" at 3rd and 4th level - being awarded at TOP 10 award at 3rd level in the Arabian Sport Horse National Championships.    Danielle also rode in an Advanced Young Rider Clinic with Conrad Schumacher on "Americon"
Chelsea Allen and "Don't Tell Daddy".
Although Chelsea just turned 14 years old in 2006,  she has already been riding dressage with Kathy for over 4 years and has earned an impressive number of wins on 2  different ponies.   Don't Tell Daddy is a 16 yr old Morgan Gelding, ("Secret")  was  the 2002 Champion for the Lundquist Championships at  Jr/YR Training level, the 2004 2nd LL  GAIG Champion JR/YR and 1st LL Open Musical Freestyle Champion.    Although Chelsea's family has moved to Erie, PA, Chelsea and Secret still come for lessons all the way to Virginia.   In 2004, they  were CHAMPION in  the FEI Pony DIvision at the Lendon Gray Youth Dressage Festival.     Chelsea finished the 2004 season by being ranked 4th in the US in open 1st LL Musical Freestyle with over a 74%!   In 2005 she won her Bronze Medal and 2 GAIG Championships!
Laura Harris and CCF SIlver Dollar+/  successfully competed in both hunter and dressage on the arabian circuit for many years.    In July 2003, Laura won  JUNIOR CHAMPION for Region 15 Arabian Dressage at Training Level and JUNIOR RESERVE CHAMPION at 1st level.   Laura is now in grad school at Virginia Teach and Dollar has been retired.
Now 17 yrs old,  Alexi Glagola and her 1/2 Arabian mare "Magic Happens" have learned everything together!    In 2004,  in their first major competition they won the BRONZE Medal at the Lendon Gray Youth Dressage Festival including a 1st place finish in her Training Level dressage test .    In 2005 Alexi and Magic was Reserve Champion Jr. in 1st level at the Region 15 Arabian Championship.   In 2007, Lexi earned her USDF Bronze Medal on "Magic".

Caitlain Smith
Caitlain Smith & "Legend"  are students from Oceana.  Caitlian has been on a steep learning curve since she started with Kathy in the fall of 2005, completely changing her style of riding and her horses way of going!  They are showing 1st level in 2006.  When Caitlian started college in the fall of 2006, she leased "Legend" to Ondra who rides in clinics with Kathy at Oceana Stables
Danielle and King D'Azur were members of the 2005 Region 1 NAYRC Team - they made us proud by finishing 21st overall in this international competition.    Dani worked very hard and had alot of support in her quest to make the team, including fund raising from many friends and family, as well as co-sponosorship and ownership of Kingsley by The Rowses and the Mumfords.    We are all proud of her great success!   Dani has now moved out of Young Riders and is a Young Professional - teaching and riding horses all over Tidewater.

Graduated Young Riders
Here are the stories of some of our Juniors and Young Riders who are now "all grown up".

Claudia is a very focused and dedicated 13 year old.  She rode in both Holland and Portugal while her father was stationed there in the Air Force.   They moved to Tidewater in the fall of 2007 and purchased "Heidi", a 10 year old Oldenburg mare by "Ideal".   They have quickly formed a partnership and at their first away recognized show - they joined both the 2008  & 2009 70's club at Training and 1st levels.
Danielle Rowland
9 year old TIffany is my dressage princess in the making!   Riding their arabian mare "Red", Tiffany has already learned to do accurate figures and is fairly consistently on the bit at the walk and trot!   Watch for her at the SVDA schooling shows this spring!
Tiffany Rombs
Truely the comeback mare.   Lexi and her 5 year old Dutch mare "Wrosalie".   Rosy was severely injured as a 4 year old , tearing her Gastronemius tendon.    It took oiver a  year of  rest and rehab, but what a rewared when Lexi and Rosy made it back to the show ring for the SVDA Summer Show in August 08!    They won both of their classes with scores of 66% and 68%!, finishing the day as the High Score Junior Rider!

Jenny Rombs
13 year old Jenny and her sister Tiffany are my newest "working students".   With the help of myself and Janice Mumford, the 2 sisters are training their family's 18 year old Arabian broodmare "Red".   Red has taken to her new career quite well and in the past 6 months has developed a steady rhythm and tempo and is farily steady on the bit at the walk and trot.
Although Jenny is leaning more towards jumping she understands the value of correct flat work.

Paige Christensen
Paige is one of Janice and Robyn's students from Indian Point Farm.   I have the privelege of teachiing her once a month or to supplement her regular instructor Janice Mumford.     "Ruby" and Paige made there dressage show debut in March of this year!
Patrick Wilcher
14 year old Patrick does both dressage and show jumping for Pony Club.  He is riding Link this year, a Morgan gelding owned by his mother.  Patrick is a fast learner and has very effective aids.  He moved into 1st level very quickly this year, and has qualified for the Regional Pony CLub Team for 1st level dressage.  in 2008 he won his division at Pony Club Rally in Show Jumping.
